Alyssa Pake, student senator and communication commission director has been working with Anna Ziebell, the vice presiden of student senate.  Together they have been working to create a new Student Senate logo, Pake announced during the Student Senate meeting on Monday.

They have narrowed the design down to three options, Pake said. She said an email with the three potential new logos will be sent to the senators, and asked them to rate them.

Following those results, Pake said the timeline is as follows:

On Nov. 4, after initial feedback is analyzed, the top two logos will be presented to the executive team, comprising the president and vice president of Student Senate, as well as the directors, Chief of Staff and mascot coordinator.

On Nov. 11, Pake will present the final two logos (with additions or corrections from feedback overall) to narrow it down to one logo.

Nov. 18, Pake will bring the bill with the final logo to the general meeting.

Finally, on Nov. 25, the logo bill will be voted on and Student Senate will choose the final logo.

In addition to the new logo, Kayde Langer, a third-year sociology student, announced that they will be speaking at the opening ceremony for Native American Heritage Month. The ceremony will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4 in the Ojibwe Ballroom in Davies Student Center.

Langer also said there will be a pow wow honoring veterans on Saturday, Nov. 9, beginning at 11 a.m. Admission for students is $2 at the door.

The events celebrating Native American Heritage Month, such as films, pottery presentations, poetry readings and more will take place throughout the month of November, with the closing ceremony taking place on Dec. 2.
