Board supervisor quits

County Board Supervisor, and former UW-Eau Claire student, Benjamin Hack resigned from his position on the Eau Claire County Board Feb. 28, leaving the county’s District 18 supervisor seat vacant, according to a county notice released March 4.

Sharon Rasmusson, executive secretary to County Administrator J. Thomas McCarty, said Hack cited “personal reasons” as the basis for his decision, in a letter of resignation to Eau Claire County Sheriff Ron Cramer.

Hack was appointed to the board after the position opened. He most recently served on the Highway Committee as well as the Land Records Modernization Council.

Hack was unavailable for comment.

The County Administrator’s office is currently taking applications from candidates interested in filling the vacant position, Rasmusson said.

“District 18 comprises mostly the university area,” she said. “(The supervisor) would represent the university and households within the district.”

The Committee on Administration will interview applicants and submit its recommendation for appointment to McCarty, Rasmusson said Wednesday.

Potential candidates must be residents of District 18. Those interested in applying may get application forms from the County Administrator’s office at the Eau Claire County Courthouse, 721 Oxford Ave., or by visiting the county Web site at www.co.eau-claire.wi.us. Applications must be postmarked or delivered to the administration office no later than March 31.
