Investigative journalist Amy Goodman canceled her visit to kick off UW-Eau Claire’s annual Forum Series Tuesday due to an “unavoidable family emergency.”

The Democracy Now host’s presentation has been postponed to the spring semester, though no date has been scheduled, according to an e-mail from Jennifer Brockpahler, the University Activities Commission events coordinator.

The pre-reception dinner with the Western Wisconsin Press Club has also been canceled, according to an e-mail from club president Tom Giffey.

Goodman’s stop in Eau Claire would have been one of 10 across the country this fall to explore how corporate media often distort or ignore the truth because of their own interests.
