Satz takes indefinite leave of absence

Kyle Seidel

Provost and Vice Chancellor Ron Satz has taken an indefinite leave of absence because of a recurrence of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Interim Chancellor Vicki Lord Larson announced in a press release Tuesday.

Larson named Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Steve Tallant as interim provost and Vice Chancellor.

“It is clear to me the leadership team at UW-Eau Claire is extremely capable,” Larson said in the press release. “Together, and with your continued support, we are dedicated to doing what is best for the university.”

Satz will return after his treatment is over and when doctors determine he can, Larson said.

Satz’s first treatment was Dec. 26, 2003. He worked part-time for much of 2004 before returning full-time Nov. 8.
