Women’s hoops fall despite Sahr’s career night

The UW-Eau Claire women’s basketball team’s struggles continued, as they lost their fifth straight contest 61-53 to host UW-River Falls Saturday in the Karges Center.  But it wasn’t because of Kristin Sahr.

The sophomore guard, who came into Saturday scoring 3.5 ppg, poured in a career high 23 points off the bench to keep the Blugolds in the game.  She connected on 4-of-9 3-pointers.

Trailing 25-12 with 6:12 remaining in the first half, Eau Claire closed the half on an 18-7 run to tie the score at 32.

The second half was back and forth, with River Falls ultimately pulling away on free-throws late in the game.

A balanced attack led the Falcons, as four players scored in double figures.

Sarah Bingea scored 8 points in the contest, and is now 13 points away from 1,000 for her career.

The Blugolds next play Saturday against conference rival UW-Stout on Senior Night at Zorn Arena.  Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
