The Blugold gymnasts proved they saved the best for last as they tied the school record for the highest team score at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association national competition. UW-Eau Claireÿcompleted the team competition Friday with a score of 185.525, giving the team an eighth-place finish.
Conference rival UW-La Crosse snagged a national title for the fourthÿconsecutive year with aÿ score of 191.275.

Junior Alison Eagles was doing more than matching school records – she was busy breaking one of them in the floor competition, with a score of 9.825. The score gave her an 11th place finish in the event.
Eagles also took eighth place in the all-around competition, scoring 37.575. Herÿscores in the two events qualified her for individual competition.
Sophomore Lynn Morris scored aÿ9.525 in the bars and the balance beam competitions, which gave her a fifth and ninth place finish in the events respectively. She also had a mark of 37.200 in the all-around competition, which gave her an 11th place finish. The scores also qualified Morris for individual competition.
Morris received All-American status Saturday after taking fourth place in the balance beam with a score of 19.175. Morris’ Friday score was added to the score of 9.650 she received on Saturday to get the final mark. The top six finishers in each event were given All-American status.
Morris won the national title on the balance beam last year with a score of 19.100.
