On Oct. 31, the Eau Claire women’s swimming and diving team suffered an early dual meet loss to conference foe UW-Stevens Point.
The Blugolds’ second dual meet, however, provided Eau Claire with a more favorable outcome.

Eau Claire defeated Minnesota State-Moorhead this weekend as they snatched 11 victories in 16 events.
The team finished the day with a score of 162.
Sophomore Michelle Schneider said she thinks the team was prepared to win the meet.
“We knew that we were going to win, but we didn’t want to slack off,” she said. “We just wanted to do our best and get our best times.”
The win came in part from sophomores Cori Severson, Annie Gorman and Julia Mangini, who all took first place in two events.
Severson took first in the 50- and 500-yard freestyle races.
Gorman took first in the 200 butterfly and 100 freestyle.
Mangini took first in both the 100 and 200 backstroke events.
Freshman Vanessa Palmert said the team wasn’t sure how Moorhead would be as far as competition goes.
“We never had a dual meet with them before so we weren’t really sure what to expect,” she said. “We knew we had to swim hard and stay focused.”
Other first-place finishes included freshmen Emily Viau in the 1,000 freestyle, Alex Guy in the 200 freestyle and Kate Klemen in the 200 backstroke.
The Blugolds will continue their season when they host UW-La Crosse at 6 p.m. Nov. 25 at McPhee Center.
