The women’s tennis team took on UW-Stevens Point and won every game in doubles competition on Saturday. The team improved its WIAC record to 6-0 and its overall record to 6-1 after this weekend’s 9-0 victory.
In the singles competition, senior Jenny Stafford and junior Lindsay Lee won every game. Stafford, at No. 1, won 6-0, 6-0 and Lee, at No. 5 singles, also finished 6-0, 6-0.
Rounding out the singles competition for Eau Claire, sophomore Katie Steffes won at No. 2 with scores of 6-0, 6-1, and senior Molly Cadwell won at No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-1. Freshmen Molly Hunt and Allison Taplin were also victorious at No. 4 and No. 6 singles.
The doubles teams, comprised of Stafford, sophomore Kathleen Kuzma, Cadwell, freshman Laura Geissler and Steffes all finished the day beating the Pointers, 8-0.
Eau Claire faces its final competition of the fall season Saturday and Sunday at the WIAC Championships.
The championships will be held at noon Saturday at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.
