The UW-Eau Claire women’s golf team traveled to Whitewater Saturday and Sunday to compete against 13 teams in the Whitewater Invitational at the Prairie Woods Golf Course.
The Invitational included UW-Oshkosh, Augustana College (Ill.), Illinois Wesleyan University, UW-Whitewater, UW-Stevens Point, Carthage College, Robert Morris College (Ill.), Monmouth College (Ill.), UW-Platteville, Ripon College, Carroll College and Grinnell College (Iowa).
After the first day of competition, the Blugolds were in second, trailing UW-Oshkosh by five shots.
Sophomore Maggie Loney held onto first place individually after the first round with a score of 76. Sophomore Susan Karlman tied for third with a 79 and senior Jennifer Prock tied for seventh with an 84.
On the second day, Loney came out on top taking first place four strokes ahead of Oshkosh’s top competitor.
Loney helped keep the Blugolds in second as the ‘Golds finished the tournament with a score of 663, 17 shots behind Oshkosh’s winning score.
Loney finished with a score of 154 to take medalist honors. Prock ended tied for eighth with a 169.
