Looking abroad for news

Al Jazeera is the best news publication out there right now. Yup, I said it. Some people might say, “what the hell is that?” or “dude, haven’t you ever heard of CNN?”

To those questions I answer; Al Jazeera is an international web publication that covers everything around the world and is based in Qatar, and yes I’ve heard of CNN, you idiot.

News outlets like Yahoo! and FOX News are unprofessional and biased, respectively.

When reading a Yahoo! article, sometimes I ask myself if this is real news and professional journalism because the content on some of these websites is pretty awful.

If you have ever been to Al Jazeera’s site, you know that the reporters and news are very professional and actually means something in the world.

They don’t just report on who John Mayer is dating this week, random facts in the United States or “Nicki Minaj’s new enemy” — the last literally being the third to top article on Yahoo! when I wrote this piece.

Okay, so if you want to hear that kind of stuff then log onto Yahoo! and that’s all fine and dandy, but if you want actual news of substance this is not the place for you. For me, all that incessant mumbo-jumbo has no effect whatsoever.

It’s probably just me being a news nerd but when I go online to Al Jazeera and see whats going on in the world it makes me feel smarter. I can actually have intelligent conversations with people, which makes me feel happy.

I can see where some people can argue that the content is a little hard to read sometimes because it is a little dense, but if you can get through it, it really is worth it.

You can explore matters that are happening right here in the United States and North America or you can see news from the far corners of the world and controversial places from Myanmar to New Guinea to Argentina to Syria.

The site features audio, video and print stories with tabs for news all over the world, sports, business, blogs, opinion and weather.

Al Jazeera really is a one stop news outlet for anything you might need to know about the world.

For all those news lovers like me who like to stay informed, instead of wasting your time on some other site, go get some real news that matters and give Al Jazeera a chance.
