Where to watch the game

The big game that everyone is talking about is on tonight, but you don’t have your cable set up, or there is a big storm that knocked out the power or you just want to go out with your friends and have a burger while you watch the game. Rather than going to your same old haunt, why not check out one of these places?

Dooley’s Pub

Complete with five or six televisions and a large double decker seating area equipped with a bar for maximum seating, Dooley’s is a great place to catch the game. You can enjoy a “Biffo” burger which is a taste explosion complete with a quarter pound burger in between two pieces of Texas Toast buried under a mountain of cheese fries.
Bartender/waitress Sarah Mohs says there are a lot of drinking specials for the of-age students around campus. Dooley’s is conveniently located on the corner of Water Street and Fifth Avenue, even accessible by foot for many students that live in the Randall Park neighborhood.

Northwoods Brewery and Pub

Located out by the mall, Northwoods offers a quieter, quaint place to watch the game. The lounge consists of a plethora of couches situated around a massive television screen for any fan to come watch the game with a few pals.
During every NFL game, Thursday, Sunday or Monday Northwoods offers $2 off all appetizers including an appetizer that consists of one pound of jumbo wings and one pound of beer fries along with full orders of mini tacos, peppers, cheese curds, and onion rings.

Bartender Sara Nevel said Northwoods gets pretty busy for games.

“For Packer games, we get a decent amount of people here because of the appetizer and drink specials we have,” she said. “That appetizer platter is about $28-30 but can fill up a party of five or six.”

Northwoods Brew Pub is located at 3560 Oakwood Mall Dr.

Milwaukee Burger Co.

“Five dollars for any appetizer … yeah this place can get kind of rowdy,” said Assistant Manager Rachel Bash, assistant manager at Milwaukee Burger Co.

For any NFL football game, attending Milwaukee Burger can get you a lot of perks. New this year is the “couch giveaway” — in addition to the discounted appetizers, if you drink Budweiser products at the game you are entered into a giant pool to win a pair of couches at the Super Bowl.

This joint has four decently sized TV sets in the main lobby complete with a full bar to sit at if you want to get a front row
view of the action.

Located at 2620 E. Clairemont St., one of the more unique burgers at Milwaukee Burger Co. is the cheese curd burger. A full-sized burger complete with two plump cheese curds on top makes it a sure thing that no one will go hungry.

Green Mill (Not pictured)

Green Mill has two areas to watch the game, the dining area and the lounge. The dining area has four or five TVs spread out throughout the restaurant and General Manager Mike Adams said that both areas are great for viewing.

“For the Badger and Packer games we put on the house sound in the lounge for people to enjoy,” Adams said. “We have TV sets in the dining room, too, for the people who don’t want to view in the lounge.”

From 4 to 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close, Green Mill offers half-priced appetizers and half-price tap beers; the latter being for of-age people, of course. This doesn’t only happen for games; this deal is every single day at the aforementioned times.

Green Mill is located at 2703 Craig Rd. across the street from McDonald’s if you want to swing by and grab a bite to eat while catching the game. Senior psychology major and Green Mill employee Joe Carlson says if you do, try some of their legendary food.

“We’ve got the best wings in town,” Carlson said. “Not those nugget things; we’ve got strips and they’re delicious.”
