Students in Service

Editor’s note – This is the third in a series of profiles of students who have been activated to serve in the armed forces.

Deployed Feb. 13, Joseph John Artz is a 21-year-old junior MIS major. Currently stationed at Fort McCoy, he holds the rank of specialist in the Army Reserves and is from Antigo.
His father, John, said he thinks Joe will be active for one year.
“Joe understood when he enlisted that there would be the possibility of active duty,” Artz said. “When Joe received the call that he was to be mobilized, he was proud, not afraid.
“His mother and I have always been proud of Joe.”
