Junior Sarah Schuh doesn’t think she will have any problem balancing school and her position as Student Senate president with her new position as United Council vice president of four-year campuses.
“The vice president job itself is at the general assembly, so it doesn’t take much time out of my job as president,” Schuh said.
She was elected during the weekend at United Council’s general assembly at UW-Waukesha. Schuh was up against candidates from UW-Milwaukee and UW-La Crosse.
Bob Shaw, Student Senate adviser and Associate Dean of Students, said he expects Schuh to bring “significant strengths” to the United Council.
“She is very student-oriented and has a lot of ability to work with diverse constituency, including faculty, administrators and students,” he said.
Schuh said her goals as vice president will be to look at the by-laws and re-write some of them to make the vice president’s position more active, to be a leader during discussions on the general assembly floor and to be a leader in the statewide campaign.
UW-Eau Claire’s student government has been a leader in the UW System in the past, Schuh said.
“I am proud of the work UW-Eau Claire has done in the past and I think that was really a factor in me being elected,” Schuh said.
