Student Senate dealt with several topics at its first regular Monday meeting since April 9 because of April Recess and the Viennese Ball.
Insurance agent Don Southard discussed bids for student health insurance made by three different companies.
He recommended the university stay with Reliastar Company, the current provider. He allowed senators to ask questions during his presentation and encouraged students to interact with him whenever he is on campus.
The bill for the student health insurance policy for the next two years is scheduled for a vote on Monday.
Two items were passed during the meeting. One was the bill introduced two weeks earlier creating a Students With Disabilities Chair within the Student Services Commission. The other was a resolution in opposition to the lack of communication among the administration, faculty and students regarding the Chippewa River bank stabilization project.
In other business, junior Andy Brehm filled the vacant Information and Technology Commission directorship.
Secretary Stephanie Buchholtz, appointed April 2, resigned Monday because of time constraints. Vice President Kelly Witkowski expects the position to be filled Monday.
