The women’s lacrosse team started their season this past February, having 16 games scheduled in three months.

The UW-Eau Claire women’s lacrosse team competed in three games over the past week, wrapping up their season.

At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, the Blugolds played at Simpson Field behind McPhee Strength and Performance Center against the UW-La Crosse Eagles. This was the last home game for the women’s lacrosse team, and the game was dedicated as senior night for the Blugolds.

Before the game, the Blugolds said a few words for their senior players Natalie Hanson, Kylah Krause and Maggie Philippi.

According to the box scores from the game, UW-La Crosse ended the first quarter at 4-1. The Eagles then earned five points in the second quarter with the Blugolds scoring one, a total of 9-2 at halftime.

The Blugolds earned one point in the third quarter and the Eagles scored two, bringing the score to 11-3. The game ended at 16-7, the Eagles earning five points and the Blugolds earning four in the final quarter.

Krause, a fourth-year biomedical engineering student, said the Blugolds worked well together in the game and had a great team dynamic.

“It could have had a better outcome but I think we all worked well together,” Krause said. “This game we realized what we need to work on and I think we can pull it together and do really well this weekend.”

At 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, the women’s lacrosse team closed out their season against Concordia Chicago at Concordia Stadium in River Forest, Illinois, according to the Blugold athletics page.

According to the box scores, the Blugolds earned six points in the first quarter to the Concordia Chicago Cougars one point. Neither team earned any points in the second quarter, leaving the total score at 6-1 for halftime.

The Blugolds earned another six points in the third quarter, the Cougars earning zero points. Entering the fourth quarter, the Blugolds were up 12-1. The Blugolds earned two more points in the final quarter and the Cougars scored one goal in the quarter, ending the game with the Blugolds winning 14-2.

Aubrianna Neubert, the head coach for the women’s lacrosse team, said the team’s goal for these past few games was to have fun playing the game and being a team. She said the team enjoys getting on the road and getting more games in.

“We are a young team and we are successful right off the bat,” Neubert said. “We’ve had a great season so far.”

According to the athletics page, the women’s lacrosse team had one more exhibition match at 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 30. The team played against Marquette University’s club team and the Blugolds won 9-7.

The Blugolds ended their season with 16 scheduled games, three of which were postponed or canceled, according to the Blugold Athletics schedule. The Blugolds did not end up playing enough games this season to qualify for the NCAA championships.

The team ended their season with a total of seven overall wins and five losses. The team also won three home games, losing one game against UW-La Crosse.
