Assisting Eau Claire Police Department
At about 1 a.m. on Nov. 17, an officer received a request from the Eau Claire Police Department (ECPD) for assistance finding a student’s contact information. The student’s wallet and keys were found on a person who had no relation to her, and the ECPD believed they were stolen by the suspect.
The officer obtained the student’s phone number from CampS and provided it to the ECPD in order to return her belongings.
Traffic stop on Water Street
At 3:50 p.m. on Nov. 18, an officer conducted a traffic stop on Water Street. The officer observed a Ford Fiesta displaying an expired registration tag. The driver stopped at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Water Street and informed the driver of her expired registration tag.
The driver said that she was aware of the expired tag but unable to complete the renewal as she couldn’t afford it. The officer then issued a Wisconsin Uniform Traffic Citation for non-registration of the vehicle and strongly encouraged the driver to renew her registration.
Hit-and-run in Towers lot
At 5:52 p.m. on Nov. 19, a detective responded to a hit-and-run crash in the parking lot of Karlgaard Towers Hall involving a gray Honda. A small portion of the car’s bumper was detached, and there were several scratches on the bumper as well as the rear passenger side door.
The owner of the Honda said she parked in the middle of the lot at around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18. The vehicle was not damaged when she parked the car. The owner did not know when the crash occurred, nor did she have any information about the suspect.
The officer photographed the damage and completed a “non-reportable” crash form. The officer then provided the victim a business card and shared how she could obtain the crash report.
Fire alarm at Sutherland hall
At 6:35 p.m. on Nov. 20, an officer responded to a fire alarm at Sutherland Hall. On arrival, they did not locate any smoke or flames. The officer met with the hall director, who advised that the alarm likely came from one of the kitchens.
The officer investigated the fire panel and observed the alarm for the lower level while a detective checked the surrounding area.
The officer then waited for fire department staff to arrive, who declared that everything was all clear and the panel could be reset. The officer then reset the fire panel and left.
911 investigation
At 12:56 p.m. on Nov. 20, an officer was dispatched to the Davies Student Center to investigate an open line 911 call. The Communications Center reported that nothing was heard at the other end of the call, and the call then disconnected.
Upon arrival, the officer checked the area inside and outside of the Davies Student Center and did not observe any unusual activity. The officer was unable to locate an emergency or a person needing assistance, so they cleared from the scene.
