The Blakeley Brothers & Company performed from 8-11 p.m. at the Stone’s Throw on Saturday, March 28. 

Audience members could enjoy music from inside the bar after paying a $10 cover charge, where all profits went to the cover band. 

The band members consist of Jordan Bluse, Josh House, Tucker Goesch and Isaac Addie. 

House said he’s played guitar for 19 years and that his music taste was shaped by his dad. 

Addie said he started his music journey by learning piano around the age of 5 or 6 and since then has been in many groups, such as the Singing Statesmen with Goesch. 

Bluse said he’s “been doing music for 15 years” and mainly focuses on drums with his electric drumset. Bluse said it allows him to have a lot of control over his sound. 

Goesch said he began with middle school choir 20 years ago and was inspired by Guitar Hero to pick up an electric guitar. 

The name of the band comes from the fact that Bluse and Addie are brothers-in-law, and Bluse said they took the name Blakeley from the street they used to live on together. He said they met the other members through church. 

While the band members have varying tastes in music, Addie said their process to decide what songs to play isn’t difficult. 

“We all just love music, and we have a deep appreciation for what different genres bring,” Addie said. 

Additionally, House said he creates original songs, which the band played four of on Saturday. House said he has released two of his own albums outside of the band, with the most recent one, “Back in Action,” which took a few years of work and was released last November. 

“I’d really be happy to start recording more Blakeley Brothers’ original stuff too,” House said. “As long as I’m recording something, that’s what makes me happy.” 

Outside of the band, Goesch said the members all have full-time jobs. He works in technology and does music on the side. 

“It’s great to stay well-rounded and pursue all of your passions,” Goesch said. 

Goesch said the Blakeley Brothers are not just a band but also friends who take time to hang out. 

“Usually when we get together for casual things, we always talk about music,” Bluse said. “We can never turn that switch off.” 

The Saturday performance was the first time the Blakeley Brothers performed at Stone’s Throw. 

Addie said they became interested in performing there after playing at The 410, which has the same owners as Stone’s Throw. 

“It’s kind of fun to etch our little piece of the Blakeley Brothers in stone, no pun intended,” House said. 

Bluse, who DJs for weddings, said the band has expanded to perform at weddings and will have their first one scheduled soon. He said they are currently using his DJ website to advertise the band. House said that marketing is the band’s current focus. 

The Blakely Brother’s next public performance will be on April 17 at the Eau Claire Jazz Crawl. For those interested in seeing the band but will miss this performance, the band won’t perform again until mid-June in Holcombe, which Bluse said is one of their first gigs to take place outside of Chippewa Valley.
