Over the summer, Sabrina Carpenter released her seventh studio album on Aug. 29, “Man’s Best Friend.” This was only a little over a year after her sixth album, “Short n’ Sweet” — which I adored — truly making that era short and sweet.

While many people criticized the new album and its cover, I rather liked it.

I am the kind of person whose playlists are not a curation of different artists; I actually prefer to make playlists for specific artists. Recently, I finally made one just for Carpenter’s music — even though I have her entire discography on vinyl, minus her first album, “Eyes Wide Open.”

While her two most recent albums have different vibes from the previous five, I still enjoy all of them. When curating the playlist, I found my favorite songs on each album.

For her first album, “Eyes Wide Open,” my favorite track has to be “In the Middle of Starting Over.” I mean, it’s a classic; I remember the commercials for the music video on Disney Channel.

On her second studio album, “EVOLution,” the best track is either “On Purpose” or “Run and Hide.” I also have distinct memories of when I was little, listening to this album on repeat. 

Before writing this, I never understood why the first four letters were uppercase and backwards on the album cover, but I am now realizing it is because it spells “love.” The more you know.

To the shock of no one, my favorite track on “Singular: Act I” is going to have to go to “Sue Me.” Carpenter’s song is a thousand times better than that track Audrey Hobert wrote, also titled “Sue Me.”

But the song “Paris” by Carpenter is quickly growing on me the more I listen to it. There’s something addictive in the song that I can’t get enough of.

On “Singular: Act II,” my favorite song is obviously “Looking at Me.” There is a reason this song was a major hit for the Instagram editing community back in 2019. It is so good, and truly a confidence-boosting song. 

“Singular: Act II” was Carpenter’s last album until 2022, when “emails i can’t send” was released. This album is what I consider Carpenter’s first “big girl” album, as she was no longer tied to her Disney contract. 

I love a majority of the songs on this album, including the major hit song “because i liked a boy” —  a famous response to Oliva Rodrigo’s song “drivers license” — and “Nonsense.” Both are bangers.

However, I think the crown for my favorite track will have to go to “Read Your Mind” or “Vicious.” I adore both songs, and my favorite really depends on my mood.

Finally, a year after its release, I can confirm my favorite song on the Grammy-winning album “Short n’ Sweet” is “Coincidence.” I can’t even begin to describe my love for the song. 

Lastly, while I think the album “Man’s Best Friend” is a no-skip masterpiece, my favorite song is going to have to be “My Man on Willpower.” I have no words other than, “I’m obsessed.” 

My message to you all is: when in doubt, listen to Sabrina Carpenter.
