The Student Senate meeting commenced at 6:07 p.m. on Monday.

Director Elizabeth TenBarge said the academic affairs commission will be holding open forums from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday in The Hub in Davies Student Center and 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday in Hilltop Recreation Center.

Director Yoshi Gaitan said the communications commission is working on election media and applications for senate directors and interns.

Gaitan also said there will be no more communications commission meetings this semester.

Director Mengcha Moua said the Equity in Student Matters commission is reviewing student director applications and will be choosing a candidate by Thursday night.

Student Office of Sustainability commission Director Maddie Loeffler said the grand opening of the Student Sustainability Resource Center will be at 10 a.m. on Friday.

Loeffler said this SOS commission will not be meeting this week because of the Earth week activities.

Loeffler also said she is on the City of Eau Claire transit commission and wants students to give her feedback about the Eau Claire bus services by Wednesday afternoon before the transit commission meeting.

University Activities commission Director Brett Farmer said the final “Unpack It” event of the semester titled “How do we queer sexual health?” will be at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the Bridge. 

Farmer said the Unpack It event is in partnership with the Gender & Sexuality Resource Center, Student Health Services, the Eau Claire Health Department and Planned Parenthood.

Farmer also said the UAC will not be hosting any film showings or concerts in The Cabin this week, and encouraged students to attend the Eau Claire Jazz Festival and Earth week events.

Housing Coordinator Sam Consiglio said she has been reaching out to landlords about participating in HOUSE Day 2022 on Monday, September 12, to increase communication between students and landlords.

Student Organization commission Director Brenden Hicks reintroduced bill 65-B-14 to adopt the funds allocated for student organizations next year. The bill passed with a vote of 21-0-2.

Director Stuart Scamehorn reintroduced bill 65-B-15 to approve the information technology commission budget for next year. The bill passed with a vote of 22-0-2.

Chief of Staff Josh Holness withdrew 65-B-16, a bill to adopt new chapters of the senate bylaws.

There will be an open forum at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the Student Senate Complex in Davies, to get student input on the senate bylaw changes.

Loeffler introduced bill 65-B-17 to allocate additional $200,000 from the Green Fund for LEED and WELL certification of the Sonnentag Complex.

Loeffler said the additional funding for LEED and WELL certification would provide ongoing accountability for sustainability.

Bill 65-B-17 will be voted on at the next meeting.

Senator Anakah Denison introduced resolution 65-R-28 in support of following up on passed legislation. The resolution passed with a vote of 17-7-2.

Gaitan said the Student Adovacates for Sexual Assult Survivors will be putting on a “What You Were Wearing?” exhibit from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on April 27 in room 2904 of Centennial Hall.

Moua said the Inter-Tribal Student Council will be accepting donations for the Red Dress Drive to spread awareness about missing and murdered indigenous women until April 25.

Farmer said The Forum will be hosting “Processing Grief and Stress” with speaker Nora McInerny at 7:30 on Tuesday in the Schofield Auditorium.

Loeffler said the Soles4Souls shoe drive will continue accepting shoe donations until the end of May.

The senate adjourned at 7:30 p.m. and will reconvene at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 25 in the Dakota Ballroom.
