After coming back from a 2-0 deficit late in the second period, the women’s hockey team got beat by a third period goal from College of St. Catherine (Minn.) in a 3-2 loss on Wednesday.
Antoinette Pace scored off an assist from Deidre Lindstrom for the Wildcats in St.Paul, Minn. to drop the Blugolds to 6-14-2 on the season.
Lindstrom scored a goal to open the scoring in the first period and Pace scored in the second period to open a 2-0 lead with 17 minutes to go in the second period.
But Eau Claire answered at the end of the period when freshman Christa Hubert scored on an assist from freshman Kristi Hawkinson with two minutes, 47 seconds left in the period.
Hawkinson set up the next goal just over a minute later when freshman Jackie Peplinksi beat Wildcat goaltender Kendra Maxson to tie the game 2-2.
The Blugolds played their final road game of the season on Sunday afternoon at Hamline University (Minn.) but results were unavailable at press time.
The hockey team closes its regular season this weekend with a pair of games against Stevens Point Friday and Saturday at Hobbs Ice Center.
