Mike Greer steps down as men’s and women’s golf coach

The head coach of both the men’s and women’s golf teams at UW-Eau Claire, Mike Greer, announced Tuesday he will be stepping down from both programs.

With Greer stepping down, the athletics department said they will immediately begin a national search for a replacement to take over the reigns from the Alumnus.

Greer, a Class A member of the PGA of America, said he is stepping down from his coaching duties to focus on his full-time position as a golf professional at the Eau Claire Golf & Country Club.

A four-time letter winner for the Blugolds, Greer received honorable mention All-American honors in 2004 and was named to the PING All-Central Region Team in 2007.

In the two seasons coaching the women’s team, Greer led the Blugolds to two second-place finishes in the WIAC.

In his four years on the men’s side, one player earned NCAA Division III PING All-American honors and another earned NCAA Division III All-Freshmen Honors as one of six in the nation. Greer coached the Blugolds to four tournament victories.
