Volleyball goes 1-3 in preparation for home tournament

Wong and Raskie lead Blugolds in kills

The UW- Eau Claire volleyball team had a tough outing at the Carthage tournament last weekend, losing three of their four matches.

 

They started the weekend playing against 15th-ranked Elmhurst College (Ill.). The Blugolds kept the first set close but fell 25-21, then lost the final two sets 25-16 to lose the match.

 

Against tournament host Carthage College, the Blugolds failed to win any sets, losing the match 3-0 with scores of  25-17, 25-17 and 25-15.

 

Eau Claire started day two of the Carthage Tournament competing against Alma College (Mich.)

 

The Blugolds lost the first set 25-22 but came back to win the next three sets against the Scots. Eau Claire defeated Alma by scores of 25-14, 25-23 and 25-22.

 

Senior Alexis Wong and sophomore Katrina Raskie finished with 12 kills each with the Blugolds leading the match hitting .299.

 

Facing the University of Chicago (Ill.), Eau Claire lost all three sets with scores of 25-19, 26-24 and 25-20.

 

Eau Claire finished 3-1 while the Maroons and Reds went undefeated in tournament play.

The Blugolds will be home for the first time this season. Eau Claire will host the Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament this weekend, starting against the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) at 3 p.m. Friday.
