Women’s hockey drops game against River Falls

Eau Claire’s single goal not enough to pick up first WIAC win

Story by Becky Olson, Copy Editor

With only two regular season games left for the UW-Eau Claire women’s hockey team, the Blugolds traveled to UW-River Falls Saturday afternoon in the hope of achieving their first WIAC win. However, that hope didn’t come true as River Falls defeated Eau Claire 5-1.

River Falls (16-4-3, 7-2-2) got onto the scoreboard first on a power play with 10:08 into the first period from Katie Batters. They would go on to score again to lead Eau Claire 2-0 at the end of the first period.

The Blugolds’ (4-18-2, 0-10-1) only goal of the night came in the third period at 13:22 by senior defenseman Emily Larson with an assist by senior forward Nikki Kothenbeutal.

The Falcons outshot Eau Claire 46-14.
