The UW-Eau Claire men’s and women’s track teams both competed Friday at the St. Thomas (Minn) showcase. The event was an individual competition; therefore there was no final team standings.

The men took home wins in four different events, and the women came away with two event wins. For the men, junior Thurgood Dennis won two event for the Blugolds, taking first in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes.

In the 60-meter Dennis recorded a time of 6.81, which is the second fastest time in the nation this season, and in the 200-meter he won by the narrow margin of .37 seconds.

Senior Matt Scott won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.88. He came .17 seconds short of a school record which has been standing since 2001. In the field event, junior Roger Steen won the shot put with a distance of 16.99 meters, which was a season high for him.

The Blugolds claimed eight additional top-three finishes as well.

For the women, it was junior Evy Theisen who won the long jump with a distance of 5.21 meters and fellow jumper freshman Ashley Pohlamn won the triple jump with a mark of 10.97 meters.

The Blugolds added 10 other top-three finishes before concluding the event.

The Blugolds will be in action again at 10:30 a.m this Saturday at the Pointer Eastbay Invite in UW- Stevens Point to conclude their regular season.
