    Overtime too much for women’s basketball

    The UW-Eau Claire women’s basketball team lost to UW-La Crosse 58-51 in overtime Saturday night at Mitchell Hall.
    The Eagles outscored the Blugolds 14-7 in the extra period to move to 9-9 overall and 3-6 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
    Senior forward Sarah Bingea lead Eau Claire (9-9, 4-5) with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Freshman guard Teenie Lichtfuss added 14 points and four rebounds.
    LaCrosse’s Erin Levenhagen and T. Van Dusseldorp scored 16 and 13 points, respectively, in the winning effort.
    Despite the loss, the Blugolds sit in third place at 4-5 and remain a game ahead of the Eagles. UW-Eau Claire will next play  Wednesday against UW-Superior at Zorn Arena in Eau Claire. Superior is currently 15-3 on the season.
