    Cutler is no coward

    How ‘bout them Packers?

I’m a huge, unabashed, card carrying Packers fan and I don’t care who knows it. Despite our tumultuous, injury-filled season, we are on the doorsteps of the Promised Land and other such hyperbole.

Even better, we were able to beat the Bears, which is tremendous in its own right. Beating a rival always makes anything better, you know, the chicken soup of sports.
The amount of love being bestowed upon the Packers right now is the same amount of hate that is being hurtled at quarterback Jay Cutler.

The disgust is unfounded, or at the very least, it is being directed towards the wrong thing. I think calling a guy who seriously hurt his knee a coward is a bit much, especially by people who have never experienced that injury.

    Story continues below advertisement

He tore his MCL. I’m pretty sure that’s a big injury even though it wasn’t a severe tear. The only people who could maybe say anything to him are his peers and his peers did give an opinion … before they knew anything!

Players like Derrick Brooks and Maurice Jones-Drew were ripping the guy apart before the injury was reported. I love knee-jerk reactions (pun somewhat intended)! They are the best and are always thoughtful and accurate!

Seriously though, I’m pretty sure the guy wanted to play. Have you ever heard him speak? He’s God’s gift to quarterbacking. He’s Alec Baldwin in Malice (type this into YouTube). Baldwin’s “I am God” rant is Cutler.

OK, maybe I’m being a little facetious, but there is no way that a guy as confident as he is would choose to stand on the sideline to watch some other guy lead
    the team.

If he was able to play, he would have. All of this is annoying, but the most annoying thing about this whole thing is that there are so many more things to dislike about good ol’ Jay.

As I just noted, he has an abundance of over-confidence. You could use it for fuel and solve the energy crisis. Scientists, the ball is in your court.

This is especially damning because he really sucked in astounding ways on Sunday. He was missing wide-open receivers and he basically threw a ball up for grabs that Sam Shields was able to intercept.

He didn’t just suck in Sunday’s game though. He has never been that good. He had the 16th best quarterback rating this season and he has never finished with a rating higher than 88.5 and that was his rookie year when he played five games.

To be fair, his line didn’t really help him out, but that doesn’t give him free-reign to throw as carelessly as he does. Seriously, he’s like a drunk playing a game of darts out there. Look out!

In the end, the only thing I need to know is what his teammates think of him, and you know what, they defended him.

Guys like Brian Urlacher (thank God he isn’t skilled running with the ball) and Olin Kreutz vouched for the guy.

These guys are tremendous teammates especially considering how bad Cutler was playing before he got hurt.
If these players defend his heart, then we all need to shut-up about it. That includes Brooks and Jones-Drew on Twitter. If your teammates like you, that’s all that really matters anyway.

I’m all for some Cutler bashing, but if you’re going to begrudge a guy, do it for the right reasons.
