    The Blugold men’s tennis team lost to No. 1 ranked Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) 7-0 on Saturday dropping their record to 13-5 in dual matches. The doubles team of sophomore Tim Eisele and freshman Steve Lantz won their match at No. 1 doubles 8-6, but it wasn’t enough as Gustavus eventually won the doubles point.

    The team will head to La Crosse Friday to face UW-Oshkosh.

    The Blugold men’s golf team placed sixth out of 18 teams at the two-day Wartburg Invitational in Iowa. The team’s final combined score was 620. Millikin University (Ill.) won the event with a score of 607.

    Senior Grant Lissick and junior Ryan Brockhaus tied for the top score on the team and tied for 10th place overall with total scores of 153. Sophomore Peter Wendt tied for 20th with a total of 155.

    The Blugold women’s golf team took fourth at the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling held at Ironwood Golf Course in Illinois.

    Sophomore Meghan Sobotta, who placed third overall, only five strokes behind the champion with a two-day total of 158, led the team.

    Co-first-round leader senior Maggie Loney finished sixth overall with a total score of 161. Junior Jesse Thompson finished in a tie for 15th and sophomore Kim Huber finished tied for 40th.

    The Blugold women’s track and field team won 10 of the events at the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational. Senior Erin Kokta, who won the long jump and triple jump competitions, led the team jumping 5.38 meters in the long jump and 11.20 meters in the triple jump. Junior Christina Locke also won two events as she placed first in both the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.75 and 1,500 meter run at 4:58.72.

    Other track event winners included junior Shalene Huth who won the 100-meter dash, sophomore Kjersten Holt the 200-meter dash winner, freshman Liz Kooistra in the 400-meter dash and Jane-Marie Ovanin in the 10,000-meter run.

    Two Blugolds had first place finishes in field events: junior Paula Crossfield won the discus throw and junior Stephanie Barnes won the pole vault competition.

    The Blugold men’s track and field won seven events at the Falcon Invitational, the most out of all schools competing in the meet.

    Freshman Frankie Adams won the 100-meter dash for the second week in a row with a time of 11.20, while freshman teammate Wes Fischer placed first in the 800-meter run clocking in at 1:59.33. Sophomore Ted Lillie won the 5,000-meter run at 15:36.87 and junior Nick Aliota took first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15:41. The 400-meter relay team also took first for the Blugolds.

    In the field events, first place finishes went to senior Brent Tice and freshman Nick Desotelle. Tice won the shot put with a throw of 14.80 meters while Desotelle took top honors in the pole vault competition with a distance of 4.25 meters.
