    Women end perfect in WIAC

    For the second time in four seasons, UW-Eau Claire’s women’s basketball team finished undefeated in WIAC play, wrapping up a perfect conference season Wednesday with a 65-53 road victory over UW-Platteville.
    Junior Brooke Wozniak scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Blugolds (24-1, 16-0 WIAC), who won their 15th consecutive game.
    Senior Kristi Channing led the Blugolds with 16 points and pulled down six rebounds, while senior Janel Soppeland scored nine points.
    With the game tied at 12 halfway through the first half, the Blugolds scored 15 straight points, with the baskets coming from five different players. The run helped the Blugolds take a 34-26 lead at halftime.
