Fun Christmas season events in Eau Claire

I’m sure you’ve heard people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

I don’t necessarily agree with this as someone who rolls out of bed 15 minutes before she needs to leave for her first class, but I do think it’s the most delicious meal of the day.

Breakfast during the week is a feat, but on the weekends, it is a priority. I usually stick to my staple breakfast restaurant, Chick-a-dee’s, but lately, I’ve been trying to branch out some.

These are three of my favorite places to get in the most delicious meal of the day.

Altoona Family Restaurant

I truly feel that any restaurant with “family” in the name is automatically going to be amazing.

I don’t often have enough time to cook my own breakfasts, besides the occasional slice of toast, and maybe scrambled eggs if I have a little extra motivation.

Altoona Family Restaurant is one of those places that reminds you of the breakfast your parents would make for you on special occasions growing up.

Maybe for birthdays you’d get whipped cream and sprinkles on your waffles instead of just syrup. On sick days my mom would make me poached eggs and toast, which made me a little less wary of the flu than I should’ve been.

I tried Altoona Family Restaurant for the first time a couple of weeks ago and split the stuffed french toast and the chicken tender skillet with a friend because we couldn’t choose just one or the other.

Both were absolutely amazing. I have much more to try, but I really doubt you could go wrong with anything on that menu.

Mom’s Kitchen

My parents came up to visit me last week, and they decided hotel food wasn’t going to cut it, but to our knowledge, we’d already discovered all the best breakfasts in Eau Claire.

Thankfully, one of my friends had found Mom’s Kitchen with her boyfriend about a week before, so my parents and I decided to give it a try.

Before I discovered the greatness that is biscuits and gravy, my go-to order was always eggs benedict. I decided to go back to my roots that day, but dress it up a little first.

Instead of ham, I ordered pulled pork and I added avocado, plus hashbrowns on the side. The service was fast and the food was amazing.

Mom’s Kitchen is a couple of miles out of the way of Water St., but this is a bonus if you don’t want to see anyone from class while you’re still hangry and haven’t brushed your teeth yet.

Like I said, the food was amazing, but the best thing I ordered was a slice of french silk pie to-go.

I have an awful sweet tooth, but I’m also extremely picky about the quality of the chocolate I consume. This pie was a huge win for me, so I think it can be assumed that it was a 10/10.

Chick-a-dee’s Family Restaurant

Okay, so I know I just said I’m trying to branch out more, but it felt wrong not to feature my very favorite breakfast place.

Chick-a-dee’s is a cute little family restaurant that my friends and I frequent. The homey atmosphere and kind wait staff make what could merely be where we eat our first meal of the day into a place to make memories.

Breakfast on Saturday is honestly better than the Friday night before. There’s really nothing better than listening to the shenanigans my friends pulled the previous night over a hot chocolate and a steaming plate of biscuits and gravy.
