Welcome to On the beat, where Spectator staff members keep you in the loop and up to date on all things entertainment.

This week, we will be covering all things “Exactly Right.” Exactly Right Media is a network home to eleven different podcasts. The network was created by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark in 2019.

“The Exactly Right podcast network provides a platform for bold, creative voices to bring to life provocative, entertaining and relatable stories for audiences everywhere,” according to the platform’s website.

Podcast one: “My Favorite Murder”

Kilgariff and Hardstark are the hosts of the true-crime podcast “My Favorite Murder.” This true-crime comedy podcast discusses famous true crimes in history and shares submissions from listeners on their ‘hometown murder stories.’

The podcast is described as a “true crime comedy podcast” because the hosts attempt to make the topics of true crime and murder easier to talk about — by including comedic elements.

Episode 264 titled “Goodbye, Sloppy Joe!” covers the murders at White House Farms. Kilgariff discusses the murders that took place in the England village of Tolleshunt D’Arcy in 1985.

“This was one of the crime stories that affected me deeply and was very upsetting. It’s essentially very similar to a British John List story,” Kilgariff said.

This podcast includes explicit content and language and is recommended for listeners 18 years or older.

Podcast two: “Purrrcast”

The “Purrrcast,” hosted by Steven Ray Morris and Sara Iyer, highlights interviews with guests who chat about their cats.

This week’s episode titled “Barbara Gray-Supervised Relaxation” includes an interview with podcaster and comedian Barbara Gray.

Episode 299, released on March 3, includes a discussion about Gray’s cats: Archie and Cindy.

Gray was featured in one of the first episodes of the “Purrrcast” in 2016 and is now a host of a new Exactly Right Media podcast, “Lady to Lady.”

Podcast three: “Bananas”

If your interests don’t include true crime and cats but do include funny news stories, then the “Bananas” podcast is one to not miss.

Hosted by Kurt Braunohler and Scotty Landes, each discusses fascinating and wacky news stories from around the world.

The latest episode titled “Hot Pants with Akilah Hughes” features American writer, comedian and actress Akilah Hughes.

“Akilah Hughes joins Kurt and Scotty to talk about whether or not China is building a time machine,” according to their website. “[Also] Amelia Earheart’s disappearance, Portland’s therapy llama, the astronaut who snuck a sandwich into space and how the Times Square Margaritaville will soon contain a synagogue.”

Podcast four: “I Saw What You Did”

This podcast is hosted by film enthusiasts and experts, Danielle Henderson and Millie De Chirico.

“I Saw What You Did” is a podcast that dissects and discusses two of the hosts’ favorite movies. The films that they chose to discuss have similar “wild and weird” themes.

The latest episode titled “A Jenga of Desire” discusses the films “Gleaming The Cube” (1989) and “Memphis Belle” (1990).

“These two never fail to provide genuine laughter and meaningful ideas. I thought I knew film, but most weeks I’m introduced to new and extremely interesting work. This is next level commentary that delivers,” according to an Apple Podcast Review.

All of these episodes and more can be found on all streaming platforms, including iTunes, Spotify and Stitcher.
