To end the summer with a splash, the Wakanda Water Park in Menomonie hosted their 10th annual dog swim last Saturday.

All kinds of dogs were welcomed through the water park’s doors to enjoy one last swim for the summer. The event was hosted by the Dunn County Humane Society.

“The proceeds of the event go to the Dunn County Humane Society,” Lisa Drenkhahn, event organizer, said. “Any dog can participate, as long as they are social dogs and their vaccines are up to date.”

According to their website’s flier, the cost was $10 per dog and owner pair.

Julie Burke, whose golden retriever named Sam and other dog named Anna were participants of the dog swim, said, “We moved here about four years ago, so we started attending this event once we moved here.”

“This is our first year,” said Erik Knutson, whose dog, Gilbert, won a prize for attending. “He’s only seven months old.”

All dogs who attended the dog swim were entered into a drawing for prizes throughout the event.
