A sex offender with a history of hanging around UW-Eau Claire’s campus was released from prison Tuesday.

Bruce Moores, 54, was convicted in 2011 in Eau Claire County for failure to comply with the Sex Offender Registry, and using an alias with the Sex Offender Registry. He will reside in the 100 block of Randall Street.

As a condition of his parole, Moores is not

allowed on UW-Eau Claire property.

Before his conviction, Moores was known to spend time at the McPhee Center and Haas Fine Arts Center, videotape female sports and post fliers soliciting for female photography.

Moores is 6 feet 1 inch tall and 185 pounds. He is on GPS monitoring.

Jay Dobson, a lieutenant with the campus police, said a student once notified campus police after Moores posted fliers promising high hourly rates for clothed female models, Dobson said.

Dobson urged students to report suspicious persons on campus property immediately.

“We all have a pretty good sense of the ‘norm,’” Dobson said. “… if they (students and faculty) see somebody that looks suspicious, those are the types of individuals you should call the police about.”
