Wednesday

12 to 12:50 p.m. Faculty/Academic Staff Forum: Dr. Justin Patchin, “Online Social Networking among Adolescents: A Review of MySpace.” Patchin, a professor of political science, will speak and respond to questions. Students, staff and community members are welcome to attend. Feel free to bring a sack or tray lunch. Patchin’s research disputes the conventional wisdom that adolescents are placing themselves at risk for victimization by what they post on the popular social networking Web site, MySpace.com. In one of the first empirical examinations of the site, Patchin found that most kids are using MySpace responsibly. Free. Presidents Room, Davies Center.
