Students looking to learn about the process of interviewing with potential employers will have the opportunity today in the Tamarack Room of Davies Center.
The event, “Breaking the Ice,” will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will host a variety of employers from around the Chippewa Valley, said senior Renee Swoboda, who is in charge of promotions for the event and also will be participating in it.
“Students interview with employers who give them immediate feedback on what they can work on and improve,” she said, adding that this is the first employment aid students of all majors can attend.
There also will be free food available to students at the event, she said.
Swoboda said the interviews take about a half hour, with the first 15 minutes being the actual interview and the rest of the time the student receives feedback from the employer on what he or she can improve.
“Students sign up ahead of time (for time slots), but walk-ins are welcome too,” she said.
Pastor Eric Nielsen, who is the registrar for the event, said the committee has been working on the event since last fall.
He said human resource representatives from 23 companies from around the Chippewa Valley also will be on campus.
Target, Luther Hospital, the Leader-Telegram, the Eau Claire Area School District and Charter Communications are among those attending, Swoboda said.
