Wednesday’s presidential debate will be held in The Cabin instead of the space near Burger King from noon to 1 p.m., said President Justin Hentges at the Student Senate meeting Monday.
Hentges noted logistical reasons for the change of venue.
“With the amount of candidates and the space we needed, it just made more sense to move (the debate) to The Cabin,” Hentges said.
Last year noise from the crowd made it difficult to hear candidates’ answers during part of the debate.
The election committee decided the change in venue Monday night before the senate meeting. But Hentges said he doesn’t believe this sudden change will bring less people to see the debate.
“We may get more people who actually want to see the debate,” he said.
Hentges will be moderator and said the debate will focus on all everything campus related. The four presidential and vice presidential candidates will have a chance to share their views on a variety of issues during the hour-long debate.
The election is scheduled for March 5 to 8.
