On Saturday, in a nail biter against Augustana College (Ill.) at the UW-Madison Nielsen Tennis Stadium, the UW-Eau Claire men’s tennis team came out on top 5-4.

The Blugolds struggled in doubles for the first time all season but won five out of six singles matches to make up the deficit.

The whole match came down to No. 1 singles with senior Ryan Vande Linde taking the court to try to give Eau Claire the 5-4 win. Vande Linde was successful in the important match and prevailed 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.

Another notable in singles was freshman Will Weyenberg who won his match 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.

The Blugolds are now 11-5 on the season and have won six straight while Augustana drops to 8-7.

The Blugolds will be in action next weekend facing three opponent — two at home and one on the road. They will be at the College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) on Friday before hosting St. Ambrose (Iowa) on Saturday and St. Cloud State (Minn.) on Sunday.
