Eau Claire wrestling continues to struggle

The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team lost two tough matches against UW-Whitewater and Manchester University (Ind.) in the Border Brawl Duals Saturday in Whitewater.

Their first match, against the Warhawks, ended in a 42-6 loss. Freshman Nathaniel Behnke claimed the only Blugold victory in the 141-pound match with a pin.

Luckily, in their second bout against Manchester University, Eau Claire found some success. While losing the match 28-24, the Blugolds did have five different wrestlers win. Juniors Steven Fisher and Jacob Hoffstatter were among the five, winning the 149 and 184-pound matchups.

Eau Claire is back in action at the Wilson-Wheaton Invitational this coming weekend. Among those competing at the event are conference foes UW-La Crosse and UW-Platteville.
