All vehicles can share road

Bikes, cars are different, need to understand each other

By Dave Smuhl

Every year it makes me incredibly happy to see people out on their bikes and walking around town again. But it also seems that with this experience, one immediately discomforting experience follows: spring-time drivers. Invariably, it seems the nicer the weather, the more cars are on the road, and, coupled with the increase in pedestrian traffic, the result always seems to be animosity directed towards the latter.

A bill has been proposed that would limit what records the public can view. While the changes might not be all that bad, it is setting the precedent of limiting public access that is the problem.

Women's History Month inspires awareness event

By Caleb Gerdes

"The world's oldest occupation" is being called into question. Where do you stand? What does it mean to be a prostitute, historically and now? What exactly is prostitution? And who in the world would think that a prostitute is a prisoner?

Derogatory words shouldn't be used

"Retarded" is a poor word when used to describe disatisfaction

By David Taintor

The UW-Eau Claire chapter of Best Buddies should be commended for amassing more than 500 signatures to raise awareness against derogatory words like "retarded" and "gay" that are used casually in conversation.
