Long before oil, diamonds and even cash, one element dominated the world. One element bought love, started wars and gave hope. Gold. Most people are aware of the corruption surrounding the diamond market. Despite Leonardo DiCaprio's horrible South African accent in Blood Diamond, the movie served to raise awareness of corruption to those who otherwise would not have realized.

In case you haven't heard, Alex Rodriguez, arguably already one of the best baseball players of all-time, has admitted to taking performing-enhancing drugs. There has been many heated debates on ESPN, local radio and even amongst our Spectator staff. This is one the worst things that has happened in baseball in decades.

First county-wide cell phone ban passed, but not enforced

Can you hear me now? Waupaca County could, but unfortunately won't answer. According to a Feb. 10 Leader-Telegram article, Waupaca County's sheriff, Brad Hardel, told the county board's Law Enforcement Committee he will not enforce Wisconsin's first county-wide ban on cell phone use while driving.
