Smoking ban considered

State-wide measure considered for public health

One issue newly-elected legislative leaders will discuss next year is whether or not to implement a state-wide smoking ban in bars and restaurants throughout Wisconsin. While many legislative leaders are in favor of a ban for public health reasons, many restaurant and bar patrons and business owners are concerned it will hinder businesses.

What's a Blugold? The age-old question may soon be answered. A recent survey of students, faculty and staff, alumni and donors showed 69 percent of respondents are in favor of implementing a mascot at UW-Eau Claire. After such a high turnout, the results are obvious - Eau Claire wants a mascot.

To some, "art" is considered a painting or a sculpture. To others, art can be virtually anything, such as a video animation of a woman dancing or sensor detectors that trigger sound. At this month's exhibit at the Foster Gallery in Haas Fine Arts Center, students and community members can experience these forms of art.
