Drag show promotes awareness

With a few color lights, speakers pumping out music, which the queens would sing to, Friday night kicked off in a room full of women and men for Spectrum's Drag Show in the Tamarack Room of Davies Center. The queens were not the only ones on stage. This year Drag King Zack Mayham, freshman Gen Prock, dressed in black suit, tie and a fedora, started her performance to the words of Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon.

Sidewalk closed

Construction to last until April

Starting today, an upper-campus sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day because of demolition work necessary for the upper campus chiller replacement project. The east sidewalk that runs from the top of the hill to the doorway under Hilltop Center will be blocked until the end of April 2009.

The UW-Eau Claire forensics team won first place in the Mid-American Forensics League tournament hosted on campus Oct. 25 and 26. Director of Forensics Karen Morris said the team has grown in confidence and maturity this year after spending the last two years establishing themselves as a group.
