Few Halloween incidents, police say

On-campus holiday activity low in recent years, university officer reports

Halloween came and went rather quietly on campus this year, according to University Police, who reported few on-campus incidents for at least the second year in a row. University Police Sgt. Chris Kirchman said officers responded to just four incidents on campus during Halloween this year, compared to three incidents last year.

When Hongbing Peng, a visiting scholar from Jinan University in China, first came to America, her undergraduate professor changed her name to Carol. He did this because it was more accommodating for him than to try and pronounce her name each day. This was one of Peng's many adjustments to life in American culture.
