New movie wrong in its portrayal of blind individuals

I can't decide whether or not to picket the movie "Blindness" when it comes to a theater in Eau Claire. It's an allegory, I know, but the images in it of blind people groping and behaving badly will stay in the back of people's minds. I know - I've been blind from birth and have battled those negative images for 59 years.

Wasting food a problem at all-you-can-eat cafeterias

I am an exchange student from Germany and I am happy to study here. I have to compliment the caf, because the food is usually great. But one thing bugs me every time I go there: the tray return. I feel sad, when I see all the burger, salads, vegetables, desserts leftovers disappearing in the kitchen and probably right on their way to the garbage can.

Rising costs of health insurance an issue for most Americans

In my job as a community organizer with Citizen Action, I meet people every day who are having trouble paying for health insurance. Sometimes it's a farmer like my dad, sometimes it'll be a business owner, sometimes it's a younger person just graduated from college.
