Facebook adds first voting application

BeCounted student-developed resource for registration, election information

Voting for the first time, or even the second, doesn't have to be an intimidating process. That's why a team of 20 Stanford University undergraduate students have developed BeCounted, the first voting resource available through a Facebook application. BeCounted is a non-partisan voting tool that helps voters decide where and how to register and vote, said Ellen Cerf, BeCounted's media director.

A wave of bicycle accidents on campus earlier this month has prompted University Police to step up efforts to inform students about bike and skateboard laws. During a 10-day period in mid-September, University Police responded to one skateboard and four bike accidents across campus - a significant increase from the one or two accidents usually reported during the fall semester, University Police Sgt.

In the interest of sustainability, UW-Eau Claire Facilities Planning and Management implemented a new battery-powered scooter vehicle in its mail services department last week, said Lynn Peterson, associate director of Facilities Planning and Management. Peterson said that they have 45 "trucksters" that burn gas, and they started entertaining the idea of using hybrid or electric vehicles.

The Internet is becoming a helpful tool to college students seeking to improve their grades. A new Web site, www.TheClassConnection.com, is aiming to help students to get better grades in less time. Created by two UW-Madison students, "TheClassConnection" is becoming a great resource at the college level.
