Defense dominates season opener

14th-ranked Blugolds get two early safeties, beat No. 6-ranked Bethel College (Tenn.)

Last season the UW-Eau Claire football team completed one of its most successful seasons in recent history. The Blugolds finished with a 9-3 record and won a playoff game for the first time since 1998. Entering the new season, the 'Golds are the 14th-ranked Div.
