A bill that will be announced in the state Senate this month by State Sen. Dave Hansen, D-Green Bay, would allow faculty and academic staff on UW campuses to collectively bargain if they so choose.

Misdemeanor vandalism charges in St. Croix and Eau Claire counties against freshman quarterback Ben Luehrs have been dismissed because of more serious felony vandalism charges in St. Croix County, District Attorney Richard White said. Luehrs was charged with various counts of vandalism in relation to the June damage of high schools in Hudson and New Richmond.

Finance Commission mulls appeals from five groups

UW-Eau Claire's 2008-2009 Organized Activities Budget will move on to Student Senate for approval next semester after its Finance Commission decided on appeals from five groups Wednesday. Representatives from International Films, International Activities, Student Senate, The Flip Side and the Artists Series pleaded their cases Wednesday to the commission, after which members reevaluated the tentative budget, Finance Commission Director Tom Holtan said.
