'Tragedy' too weak of a label

World should recognize Armenian killings as genocide

Here's a quick question for you history buffs out there - do you know when and where, in a two year period, up to 1.5 million people of a single ethnic group were systematically killed? Would it help if you knew it was sometime in the 20th century during a World War? Maybe if you knew it happened in a modern day European country? Give up? It's not your fault you don't know.

Magazine's ads effectively stretched the bounds of art

An arts magazine at UW-Eau Claire is receiving flak for posters it used to inform students about submitting literature and art for consideration in its next release. Some felt that the content of the posters was degrading, objectifying and offensive. But whoever ripped the posters down aimed at encouraging students to participate in campus activities - for the sole reason that a few people feel the content is offensive - was unjust in doing so.

None of us will ever forget the horrendous acts and the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Just as those who went through Pearl Harbor and the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and his brother Robert will never forget where they were when the fateful events took place, neither will we.
