City leaders, officials reflect after a night of observing drinking on Water Street

For the usual patrons of the Nasty Habit Saloon, 341 Water St., Friday night's events were relatively typical. Rap music boomed throughout the bar as people danced, laughed and yelled with drinks in hand. Dozens of people lined the bar, barking out drink orders as bartenders hustled back and forth.

About 180 UW-Eau Claire students gathered in the parking lot of Kerm's, 329 Water St., joining 57,000 people in 130 other cities around the globe to sleep in the street Saturday night.
The goal of the night was to draw attention to the children in Uganda who walk from villages to public squares every night so they won't be abducted by rebel forces and forced to join the military.

Midwestern employers plan to hire 9.8 percent more college graduates from the 2005-06 school year than they did from 2004-05, according to a new study by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. The results let seniors like Lindsay Steinberg breath a sigh of relief as they enter the job market soon after graduating on May 20.
Paintings, murals, pictographs displayed in Phillips

As part of American Indian Awareness Month, two world-renowned artists presented their experiences on the culture and art of the Zuni Pueblo Tribe of Arizona.
On Friday in 007 Phillips Hall, tribe members Alex Seowtewa and his son, Ken, gave a presentation on Zuni artwork, including murals depicting tribe ceremonies such as the Summer Rain Dance.
