Andy Zipf will present three free concerts at UW-Eau Claire March 3-5. His shows will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday in The Cabin of Davies Center.
Zipf's music is layered with the sounds and imagery of his surroundings to create a sound he describes as "post-cultural mood rock." His music has been heard on MTV's "One Bad Trip," "Your Face or Mine," as well as "Date My Mom," and VH-1's "You Rock" and "Bands Reunited." In August he recorded an exclusive live performance for XM Satellite Radio's The Loft Channel, where he is in rotation.
Zipf has performed for Dana Gioia, chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts; supported acts such as Mary Lou Lord and Graham Colton; recently performed at the BMI Acoustic Showcase Series in New York City; and has used his talents to help the homeless, fight AIDS and save the Chesapeake Bay.
Stepping outside the traditional confines of a singer-songwriter, Zipf creates a moody and captivating live show by combining evocative vocals and effects-driven acoustic guitar with organically blended loops and electronic textures pumping through old radios, tape recorders and other interesting gadgets.
