"She described how ADC used Global Information Systems to map the affected areas before Katrina hit, using aerial photos taken by the Army Corps of Engineers to determine the amount of debris removal necessary to get the areas back to normal. "

No, she used a *geographic* information system to do the mapping. BTW, UW has one of the strongest programs in that technology in the U.S!

Thank you for pointing out my mistake, I don't know how that got past me when I was writing the story. I'll talk to the chief editor and see if we can't run a correction in this next issue or the one after that. Again, thanks for the correction, I'm sorry about the mistake.

Kudos to JoAnn and to all the UW-EC students who continue to make the trek to the Gulf Coast. During his spring break next month, my son and I will make our 5th trip to the region. Last Christmas, we were able to visit with the 80-year-old woman whose home my son helped strip bear in the weeks immediately after landfall. Helen was proud to show us her completely finished and redecorated home.

I had a long conversation with a New Jersey freelance reporter on her second trip in two months last December. She is struggling with "how to get the word out" that we need to continue to help, long after Anderson Cooper and Greta Van Sustern have moved onto to other venues.

And, so, I issue a challenge to the students of a great university: continue to share your talents, your skills, your time. Talk to anyone who went to New Orleans last spring break. The need is just as great as ever. But the personal rewards are priceless.
